6th October 2012
Bandon finally got their season underway. They had their first game of the season with 3 points on the board and a clean sheet. Bandon have trained hard for the past two months and this work is paying off. From the keeper Tomas right through to the strikers everyone was on top of their game. Lee Holland had an outstanding match in centre half along with Jordan Fenton who swept up everything that came their way. Kanturk struggled to create any clear cut chances. Bandon had the better of the chances when Kanturk keeper played the ball off Leon Collins Negal which went narrowly wide. Cristian Gomez had a superb strike from 25 yards which Kanturk keeper pulled off a great save. James McCarthy was showing some great leadership in the middle of the park breaking up the play and starting off some of Bandon’s great attacks. Elliot was lively through-out the game, his presence in midfield was brilliant. After 25 mins Bandon did manage to break the deadlock and it was a great through ball from James Mc who set up Leon who comfortably slotted the ball into the bottom corner. Bandon stayed solid and took this lead into half time.
Second half began and Bandon went from strength to strength the wingers Rhys and Liam were creating chances and after 10 mins into second half and Leon doubled his tally for the day as well. Bandon kept this lead solid and shut up shop. With some great defending from the back 4 they kept everything compact. Bandon will now push on to their second league game Saturday week.
