The fourth game in the league season saw Bandon at home to A Youghal side that defeated the town in last seasons semi final of the pop Keller cup and even though the seasiders had a poor start to league they were always going to give Bandon a hard time of it.
The game started with great intensity and it was obvious that both sides were hungry for the points with Youghal hoping to put something on the table and Bandon looking to go 4 points clear. Both teams had chances and Brendan Hurley made two impressive saves to keep the clean sheet, the second was the kick start Bandon needed and they upped the tempo and a great ball through from Sean Holland saw Brendan Cullen beat a defender with pace and strength and go one v one with keeper and as he pushed ball around keeper the keeper took him down and the referee awarded a spot kick and with the defender there the keeper got away with a yellow card. Richard Holland stood up and took the spot kick and made it 1-0. Bandon pushed on from here and some excellent work from Keith Holden down the line and an even better cross which found Ger Harrington at the back post who slotted the ball into the bottom corner, at this stage it seemed like how many we’re Bandon going to get but a misplaced pass saw Youghal pull one back from a great finish. Half time came and both teams seemed quite anxious an it was a case whoever scored next and after 20 minutes the ball broke to Richard Holland who half volleyed into the top corner and that sealed the win which sees Bandon top of the league. Next week Bandon move to Munster Senior Cup action v Cobh in Bandon on Saturday @ 3
