10th November 2012
The game saw Bandon knowing a win would see them hold top spot and created a gap between them and the chasing pack. The game started with Bandon creating a lot of chances from excellent forward passes from right full jerry Lynch and this created a number of opportunities with the ball being delivered into the box. Bandon should have opened the scoring only for some excellent saves from the Castleview keeper and some unlucky finishes where three chips went narrowly over and the keeper made four point blank saves. The first was one of wasted chances for Bandon but they held their clean sheet and castle views had been restricted to half chances at best. The second half again saw Bandon unlucky not to open scoring and as the 70th minute came it felt like it was going to be one of those days. Then Ger Harrington found him self one on one and was about to score when he was brought down the ref was unable to see trough the crowd of players and couldn’t give, but it wasn’t too long before Bandon’s pressure paid off when Brendan Cullen won the ball in the box and was clearly taken down by the keeper who was lucky to only get a yellow. Richard Holland stepped up and made it 1-0, the lead was soon doubled when Brendan Cullen broke free and rounded the keeper to make it 2-0, Bandon could have added 3 more only for some poor finishing and great saves and Castleview were unlucky not to break the dead lock as well only for an excellent save from Hurley. Bandon were unlucky not to add a third when substitute Lordan did all the hard work with some excellent skill but just slotted over.
In the end Bandon kept the clean sheet and took all 3 points which see the top with 16 pts from 7 played with CIT at home next week and Carrigaline then to finish the first round of fixtures and bring the team half way trough the league campaign. Bandon play CIT in the Town Park Bandon next Saturday @ 2 kick off.
In top form today for Bandon was Danny Lynch who retuned after 3 months injury, defenders brad, Benny and Sully along with man of the match jerry lynx and Brendan Cullen, Kieth Holden and Richard Holland worked hard and were unlucky not had each bagged doubles. Midfielders Sean Holland, Ger Harrington and substitutes Gavin shields and Sean Lordan all did well with substitute Ed Andepu working hard to see out the game. In the end another great result with a clean sheet and three points.
