Blarney played well throughout the 90 minutes and passed the ball well. Bandon looked tired after the celebrations of promotion and blarney played to this by shifting the ball from left to right on numerous occasions. Bandon’s Brendan Hurley was in top form and made some fine saves and blarney went 1-0 from a corner that was poorly dealt with from a clearance of the line and they deserved the lead. The goal came after 55 mins. Bandon pushed on from this and Gavin Shields hit the crossbar from some fine football. Bandon had chances as the game moved on with the most noticeable a penalty shout as Bandon’s Brendan Cullen burst through the defence and he was taken down but the ref disagreed and gave a free out, it was a get out of jail for Blarney who acknowledged the claim. Bandon seemed disheartened from this and as the pushed bodies forward for an equaliser Blarney exploited the spaces in behind and got the second late on. Blarney look forward to the winners of CIT and Wilton tomorrow night.
Bandon have completed their domestic football with their next game being FAI 2nd Round Cup action away to Shelbourne.
