Bandon battled it out with this side and Carrigaline for the league title last season and came out on top. A big part of that success was a hard fought 1-1 draw away at Corinthians. Today was the first time the two sides met since. Bandon were very focused and scored 2 early goals. One from Matthew O Mahony and the other from Eoghan Daly. Both were very well taken goals. Corinthians found it difficult to break Bandon down as Jack Daly, Richard Tarrant, Aaron Hurley and Ryan O’Donoghue had a very solid game.
Matthew O’Mahony added a third when he expertly headed home from a corner. From here, Bandon controlled the game however Corinthians still created chances and took one to make it 4-1 at half time. Bandon came out in the second half and were determined to seal the 3 points. Adam Griffin made sure of this with his second of the game. Griffin captained the side today and played a superb game. O’Mahony sealed his hat trick with a well taken free kick in to the top corner. There were also good performances from Eoghan Daly and Jack Good. Aris Belavanis put in a good shift also with 2 assists. A good win for the home side to kickstart their season and overall, the entire team played very well.
Man of the Match: Hat trick hero Matthew O’Mahony. Not only did he score three goals, but he worked hard all over the pitch for his team.
