Munster Senior League Match of the Week
The fixture was always going to be close after being tagged match of the week and with it being the last fixture of the calendar year both sides would enjoy a full compliment. Bandon started the stronger and should have opened the scoring as Brendan Cullen and Keith Holden pace up front was causing problems but the Cobh keeper was in good form and stood up to everything Bandon through at them. Te next chance came from a corner and the ball just slid of the head of Darren Cullen and if full contact was made it would have broke the back of the net. Both sides had to deal with the heavy conditions and as the game went on the pitch didn’t help a flowing game. The game was balanced at 0-0 at half time and Bandon had restricted Cobh to half chances. But they got there main chance early in second half and only for a great save by Brendan Hurley Bandon could have found themselves behind, this drove Bandon and and Brendan Cullen again should have opened the scoring only for a near miss after a great ball by Jerry Lynch. The introduction of Sullivan and especially Andepu gave Bandon an even bigger physical presence and this was taking its toll on Cobh and it wasn’t long before Bradfield delivered another great cross and Brendan Cullen got on the end of it with a deft touch which saw the ball fly into the bottom corner. Bandon saw out the game and the clean sheet after an overall excellent defensive performance and a great win. Bandon now sit on top of the league with the trailing teams with games in hand by Bandon have the points on the board. Bandon look forward to 2013 with the club competing on many stages:
