6th April 2013
Both teams went into the game looking for the win , Bandon wanted to consolidate their control of second spot and the all important play-off place while Ringmahon who trailed Bandon by 4 pts needed the win to close the gap to 1 pt. This showed in the first half with rangers really pushing for the goal and they pressed Bandon back and Bandon had to soak up some pressure from the long throws of the rangers centre back but they only really create half chances, the goal itself came from a free kick and header at the far post which Should have been prevented. This seemed to drive Bandon on and they finished the half the stronger with Brendan Cullen unlucky not to score on the stroke of half time.
The second was some what of a different story with Bandon pushing higher up the pitch and looking more formidable as the game went on. Substitutions John Donavon and Audie Dunlea gave the fresh energy required and it wasn’t long before chances came for Bandon and it was only for some fine defending and saves from Rnmgers keeper. Richard Holland, Dunlea, Holden and Cullen were all causing problems and it was a penetrating pass from Holland that sent Cullen through and he was taken down, straight red and a goal from Richard Holland. Bandon pressed now and pinned Ringmahon back and really should have taken the lead and all three points but Ringmahon held on in the end for the point. Leaders Leeds took all three points today against Carrigaline in a 1-0, and the table now looks as follows:
