The game was the Munster Senior League Match of the week and a win for Bandon would see them move 7pts clear in 2nd spot going into their final game, the defeat would see Youghal relegated to the 2nd division. Bandon started the game with real determination and this was shown through the work rate and intensity. They were rewarded for this 3 mins in when Ger Harrington stepped up to take the free kick from 25 yards, and he buried the ball into the top corner. The second came from another set play and it was Darren Cullen on the half volley into the far corner. Bandon added a third before the half through Brendan Cullen from a header after some excellent football from Gavin Shields, Ger Harrington and Shane Barry.
The second half started with Bandon pushing on again and Brendan Cullen added a fourth after some excellent play from Gavin Shields, and Brendan drove through the Youghal defence and slotted the ball home into the bottom corner. Brendan completed his hatrick after Youghal had pulled one back from the penalty spot. Bandon were strong from the out set with top performances from Ger Harrington, Shane Barry, Gavin Shields, Jerry Lynch and man of the match Brendan Cullen. Bandon now look forward to Pop Keller Cup action v Leeds Thursday and a final league fixture at home to Leeds Saturday.
