Bandon’s u14s who are in great form over the past few weeks, kept another clean sheet and progresses to the next round of the national cup. An early away tie Sunday morning away to Buttevant didn’t stop the lads playing there attractive football on a poor surface. The game started at a quick tempo from both teams with both keepers been kept busy in the early stages. Bandon’s goalkeeper who is playing in top form of recent pull off some good saves to keep Bandon in the game as Buttevant build up some good opportunities down there right side, but Bandon’s class did come out on top and was lead from the middle of the park Peter Callnan and Mattew Elsonbokhty but the main name who showed exactly what he could do was Shane Lowney who left Buttevant ’s left full for dead on a numerous occasions with two great nutmeg’s and using his speed and power to get down the line and get some great crosses into the box. Bandon were unlucky not to get off the mark early with a close offside decision to deny Aaron Daly and then they had one cleared off the line from a great header from Darragh Healy. Bandon went onto create some good chances. They work some great free kicks between Adain O’ Mahony and Paul Lang. Bandon did get the first goal with 25 minutes into the half. It came from a great corner from Adain O’ Mahony who say Shane Lowney leap above everyone with a thumping header into the roof of the net, with the keeper having no chance. Bandon kept it quiet for the next 10 minutes with the backline Paul Lang, Adain O’ Mahony, Nelson McCarthy and Edward Hetherington sweeping up anything Buttevant had to offer.
Second half begun with Bandon knowing if they kept a clean sheet they were through to the next round. This is exactly what they done but along with that they added two more goals to finish the match 3-0. It was that man again Shane Lowney who doubled his tally for the day and Bandon’s tally with a some great tekkers taking the ball down on his chest from a great free kick whipped in by Peter Callnan and he finished with a half volley. Jermey Collins was unlucky not to make it 3 and get his name on the score sheet for a second week in a row. Jermey had a wonderful game on the wing thinking defensive minded by marking Buttevant lively number 8 and doubling up to help his backline. Bandon brought on 3 subs in quick succession with Philip Wall slotting into left full Jeon Madailin coming onto the wing and saw Connor O’Driscoll return from injury up front and ended up on the wing. These 3 brought an extra spark to the game with some well worked passages worked down the left flank. Bandon finally wrapped up the game and it was in form striker Aaron Daly who finished it off with a cool placed shot into the bottom corner. Bandon finished strong and were well deserved winners on the day.
