Bandon U16 were away to Buttevant in the first round of National Cup on Sunday morning Because of a number of injuries Bandon travelled with a smaller than normal squad. For the first few minutes of the game Bandon looked to be starting well but on the 7th minute a mix up in defence let Buttevant score straight from a corner that set back seem to unsettle Bandon and for most of the first half Bandon found themselves on the back foot but went in at half time only one down. A couple of changes either side of half time and a strong team talk from the management at half time and Bandon soon started to get into the game. Defensive we were a lot better and the midfield of Jack Murphy Diarmuid O Driscoll Conor Payne and Henry Obialor started to take control of the game. 15 minutes Into the second half a Bandon free kick was sent into the Buttevant half Cullen Raymond knocked the ball down and Henny Obialor scored 1-1. Bandon were now taking the game to Buttevant and Paul Junior was unlucky not to score a couple of goals but with about 10 minutes left a Bandon corner found Shane McCarthy in the box and with a good finish scored what turned out to be the winner. Buttevant pushed hard in the last few minutes but the Bandon goalkeeper and defence held firm.
