16th March 2013
Bandon were away to league leaders Carrigtwohill on Saturday 16th March. This was a game Bandon had to win to remain in contention for promotion. In excellent playing conditions both teams went looking for a break to take the early lead. After 10 mins Eoin Nolan received the ball just outside the home penalty area, beat his marker and was taken down inside the box for a definite penalty. Colm Dineen took the kick and beat the keeper to his left to put Bandon one up. Bandon dominated the half and had two good opportunities to go further ahead but failed to find the net while Shane Collins in the Bandon goal was able to deal with anything Carrigtwohill put his way. Carrigtwohill came more into it in the second half and Shane Collins made three outstanding saves. Bandon also had chances and were unlucky when Jordan McCabe lobbed the keeper but the shot went just over. Bandon were very solid all over the pitch with every player giving 100%. Peter Blake, Brian O’Connell were very good full backs, as were Jack Kelly and James Kelleher in the centre of defence. Bandon made the game safe after 70 mins when Nolan And McCabe combined well for McCabe to slot home. Good work and closing down by Eoin Hurley and Colm Dinneen made sure Carrigtwohill had no more chances while Joe Gibson and Morgan Madden kept the pressure on the home side with many fine runs down each wing. Eoin Nolan and Jordan McCabe kept the Carrigtwohill back four very busy with great running up front. Bandon were well deserving of their win. All players played very well but the Man of the Match was Morgan Madden.
