Bandon AFC Seniors got their FAI Cup Campaign off to a winning start in a hard won 5-3 win away to Casement Celtic. Bandon took the game to Casement from the start and had a number of early chances to take the lead from Johnny Kelly and Jason Coughlan. Casement came more into the game and took the lead after 35 minutes. Bandon pushed on again and after some good work from Sean Holland, Johnny Kelly got taken down in the box and up stepped Brendan Cullen and put the penalty away. 1-1 halftime. Second half and Bandon were now playing some good football and 15 minutes into the second half Brendan Cullen set up Johnny Kelly and his shot was well saved by the Casement goalkeeper but King was on hand to finish to the net, but 5 minutes later Casement themselves got a penalty 2-2. With 15 minutes to go Bandon midfielder Eoin Hurley hit the ball well from 25 yards and the ball flew into the net 3-2 Bandon. The Bandon back four were well on top for most of the second half and it looked like Bandon would hold on but with minutes left Casement scored again 3-3 full time and onto extra time. Again Bandon took control of the game from a corner the ball came across the box and there was King to score his second of the game. Bandon pushed forward now looking to wrap up the game and after a number of half chances. Bandon finally finished off the game with another good goal from Brendan Cullen, 5-3 to Bandon now and the boys saw out the game. Hard game but a good win for Bandon Seniors.
