The U14 boys were in action in the National Cup away to Kilworth Celtic over the weekend. A truly exciting game was played by two attacking teams. Kilworth were the better team in the first 10 minutes and took a deserved lead. But that was the kick Bandon needed. 2 minutes later it was level with a brilliant goal by Man Of The Match Jack Cullinane. It was a 50 /50 game after that with both keepers making some great saves. 1 – 1 at half-time.
2 minutes into the second half some great play down the right end with Cillian O’ Mahony scoring superb 2nd goal for Bandon.
But 2 minutes later Kilworth got level again with a great goal of their own.
3 minutes later another superb bit of play by Bandon was finished off with a chip by David Whelton to make it 3- 2 . But to Kilworth’s credit they came back at us again 5 minutes later to make it 3 – 3 . With 7 minutes to go Bandon gave away a penalty resulting in 4 – 3 to Kilworth. For the last few minutes Bandon had the home team pinned back looking for the deserved equaliser but on the day it was not to be . But every player should be proud of their efforts. They played fantastic football and never ever gave up.
