Bandon made a blistering start to this league game racing in to a 2 goal lead in the first half. Goals coming from Jack O’Donoghue and Peter Callanan. Bandon could easily have extended their lead as they piled pressure on the home side however missed chances kept Leeside in the game. It was they who pulled one back through a penalty halfway through the opening 45. Up to half time, Bandon continued their dominance of the game but could add to their two goal tally.
Leeside had the better of the opening exchanges in the second half and equalised. Leeside proceeded to take the lead and the momentum was swinging in their favour.
Bandon reacted superbly though. Gary Matthews finished well to equalise for Bandon more or less straight after the home side had snuck in front.
After the water break, Bandon came out battling and some good play found debutant Ger Rice in the box. He finished excellently to score that would turn out to be the winning goal on his debut for the club.
As Leeside pushed to equalise again, Bandon added to their lead through a delightful lob by Gary Matthews, scoring his second of the game. 3-5 it finished.
It was very hard to call a man of the match in this one so the joint honour goes to Conor Nyhan who was immense all over the park and Gary Matthews, whose 2 goals and unbelievable energy saw Bandon gain the 3 points.
2 wins in a row for us and 3 unbeaten.
