Bandon’s first league game of the season ended in a scoreless draw in what was an evenly matched contest. Scoring chances were at a premium. It was a slow start where Bandon had to defend resolutely. After the first 10 minutes, Bandon slowly got a grip on the midfield battle and began to put pressure on the Buttevant back four. The home side were unlucky not to lead at half time but were denied by a superb save from the Buttevant keeper. The powerful shot came from Henry Obinar.
The second half started with Bandon pressing for an early goal. Overall, Bandon controlled much of the second half but they could not find the all elusive goal. Buttevant came back in to it with 10 minutes to go and put pressure on Bandon. They could have broke the dead lock too if not for the superb defending by the Bandon back four. In fact, the Bandon back four had been fantastic throughout the game.
It looked like the game would finish with no more chances but Bandon came very close to stealing the three points in the last minute, however, the Buttevant keeper came to the away side’s rescue once again.
It was a hard fought match between two evenly matched teams. Bandon defended extremely well. All players put in a huge effort but there were notable performances from Dillon Wilmot, Diarmuid O’Driscoll, Robbie O’Brien and Ronan Crowley.
