1st December 2012
Both teams went into the game with aspirations of reaching the last 16 and the hope of one more win taking them into the last eight and first round of the FAI Cup Proper!!
A great crowd was there and the game didn’t fail to leave them down with both sides playing attractive football and creating half chances but no clear cut chance, both teams seemed compact and strong defensively and this saw the game at 0-0 at half time. Ringmahon came out of the block and opened the scoring after a defensive error failing to clear the ball. This tested Bandon’s resolve especially after two recent defeats in the league but Bandon showed there character especially through team captain Mick Bradfield, vice captain Sean Holland who motivated the players and drove them on and it wasn’t long before Bandon’s football saw a great ball forward into Brendan Cullen who turned and drove the ball into the bottom left hand corner. This motivated Bandon and the pressed for an equaliser but Ringmahon came close with a header that clipped the post before Brendan Hurley controlled situation and Hurley was unlucky to have conceded one as he was in great form. Bandon were next to create and substitute Ed Andepu was using his strength to effect the opposition and his Strike was saved but fell to Richard Holland who drove the ball hard at goal and it was helped on its way by a deflection. Bandon celebrated the lead. And the win after showing huge composure especially through Richard Holland and Ed Andepu and Sean Lordan holding the ball up in the final third. All of the Bandon players were in top form and man of the match was given to Under 19 John Donovan who played outstanding at right back.
