U14 Boys vs Avondale – 30th Aug 2017 – CSL Div 2
- Updated: 1st September 2017
U14 Boys 6-3 Avondale – CSL Division 2
Bandon U14 boys started their 2017-2018 campaign off with 3 points in front of a good crowd in the Town Park. Bandon started the better team and looked for an early goal. This came quick enough with a great strike from distance from the boot of Diarmuid O’Driscoll. Bandon grew in confidence and quickly got their second and third goals before the break. They came from debutant Paul Nnotum and Jack Callan who continued his form from last season. Half time 3-0 Bandon
Avondale started the second half the brightest but goalkeeper Jack Cullen and his defence line of Robbie O’Brien, Shane McCarthy, Calum McCourt and Aaron O’Reilly held the Avondale attack. A mix up between the Bandon defence and from a corner kick resulted in a goal for Avondale which quickly followed with another Avondale goal. Bandon dealt with this well and never gave up with Jack Murphy, Darragh Power and Henry Obialor all linking well in midfield. Bandon quickly got their first goal of the second half and it was a great delivery from O’Reilly who found the head of Nnotum and he headed in past the keeper.
The match was end to end and either team could have sealed a win with powerful subs coming off both benches. Bandon called on Zach Caniffe , Mickey Quliann and Tega Emkperuno and in the last 10 minutes the Bandon boys showed great heart and determination to get another two goals from hat trick hero and debutant Nnotum and a second goal from Callan.
The Bandon lads have their second game on Sunday away to Kinsale where they will look to gain another 3 valuable points in Division 2.
Full time 6-3
