U16 Division 1 – Cork Schoolboys League
Managers Brendan Cullen and Richard O’ Regan were both absent for personal reasons as Bandon ventured to Temple Park to play a struggling Temple United side. They left the team in the capable hands of Club Chairman Mr. Tony O’ Leary who guided the team to an important 3 points in a comprehensive 5-1 victory.
The goals were fantastic team goals according to Tony who explained how Bandon were five to the good at half time. Peter Callanan struck twice, while Daniel Fernandez, Cathal Manning and Oisin Dewey scored one each.
Bandon defended well in the second half as Temple tried to battle back into it. Ciaran McCarthy made a fantastic save at the start of the second half to keep Temple out but they eventually scored midway through the half to make the score line 5-1.
Paul Lang who was playing tremendous at the back was forced to come off injured and Aaron Daly came into the back line and did very well.
It was a good team performance all round but Bandon will be disappointed not to have scored more goals.
Next up for Bandon is Park United at home this Sunday morning at 10.30am. Support as always would be greatly appreciated.
Man Of The Match: Peter Callanan – Callanan, who was recently appointed team captain portrayed fantastic leadership and matched that with 2 goals and a solid performance in the centre of the park. He tracked back and defended when he needed to and was very creative in attack. Greg Fitton, who was rock solid at the back, was a close second.
